Christmas Day was the third warmest on record in the United Kingdom when temperatures reached 15.1°C at Dyce in Aberdeen. This was only 0.5°C short of the record which is 15.6°C set in 1896 and 1920.

Here at Bracken House, the temperature reached a maximum at 22:03 when the thermometer stood at 12.2°C. This was 0.1°C higher than the previous best December temperature set just three days before. The minimum temperature for the day was 8.2°C at 00:24, with the average being 10.6°C.

The December record temperature at Bracken House will be very short lived as the thermometer reached 12.3°C in the early hours of Boxing Day.
